About School-Based Mentoring
In School-Based Mentoring, you are matched with a Little at a school nearby your home or where you work. You meet with your Little at the same time and same day each week, at the child's school or at an after-school program.
You and your Little use the school's resources, meeting in the library to play board games, study, or use the computers, or heading outside to play on the playground. School-Based Mentoring isn't about tutoring - it's about spending time with your Little in the context of their school.
Over the summer, you'll exchange calls and email to keep in touch. BBBS also periodically sponsors field trips that bring Bigs and Littles together.
As your match progresses from one school year to the next, you'll get the reward of seeing your School-Based Little succeed and mature at school. You'll hear from your Little's teacher about the positive changes your friendship has inspired.
School-Based Mentoring is a great way for those who want a structured way to mentor a child.
School-Based Plus
For those who want the structure of School-Based Mentoring, but some flexibility, we also offer School-Based Plus Mentoring. After a period of time, you'll be able to see your Little outside of school on the weekends, after school, and over the summer. Like Community-Based Mentoring, you and your Little can decide what you'd like to do on your own.
