Art Boxes and “Big” Fun
Volunteer Mentors and Mentees to create art for a good cause

WHAT:             An “Artful Play Day” for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston

WHEN:             Saturday, October 27th, 2007

WHERE:            Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street, Houston, 77007

VISUALS AND INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES:       
Adult volunteer mentors (“Bigs”) and their mentees (“Littles”) ages 6 to 15 using everyday objects to create art pieces out of 12” x 12” wooden boxes for the “$100 Box Show” in December.

BACKGROUND:             
The art boxes that the Bigs and Littles create will be part of the “$100 Box Show” at  the Mind Puddles Gallery in December (http://www.100dollarboxshow.com). Each box will be available for purchase during the month-long silent auction with bidding beginning at $100.  A portion of the price of each box sold that is made by the BBBS team will be donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston. In addition, the Mind Puddles Gallery will also be donating $10 to BBBS for every other box sold.

This event is organized and sponsored by the “Art of Mentoring Guild,” a group of artistic-minded community volunteers whose mission is to raise unrestricted dollars from individual contributors for BBBS through creative activities.
