Paul Dewey Joins Executive Team
HOUSTON – February 9, 2010 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston, celebrating 60 years of mentoring youths, has named Paul Dewey as its new Chief Development Officer.
Dewey brings more than twenty years of non-profit experience to the organization. He most recently served as Interim Vice President of Workplace Campaigns at the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas (UWMD). In his role, he was responsible for directing the planning and execution of the annual campaign plan, raising more than $55.6M in 2009, exceeding the goal by $1.6M.
Prior to his work at UWMD, Dewey’s career, entirely in the non-profit sector, included leadership fundraising roles at Rotary International, United Way of Central Iowa, the National Peace Corps Association, the American Red Cross, and the National Zoo. Among his many volunteer roles, he also served as a Big Brother, mentoring two young boys.
“We are thrilled that Paul Dewey is joining our agency,” said Marian Davenport, President and CEO of BBBSGH. “His experience as a Big Brother sets him apart and gives him a unique understanding of our organization. I am confident that his strategic leadership and talent will help us grow and have an even greater impact on the children in Houston’s surrounding communities.”
As Chief Development Officer, Dewey will be responsible for the fundraising strategy of BBBSGH. He will lead his team to develop the fund development operation and strengthen and sustain relationships with donors to maximize the mentoring programs of BBBSGH.
“I am excited about the opportunity to be a part of the BBBS team and to work to build an even brighter future for thousands of children in the years to come. Dewey said. “Having been a ‘Big’ twice in my life, I strongly believe in the work, and look forward to growing resources to support our mission so that even more children can reach their highest potential.”
Dewey enjoys practicing his Spanish, volunteering, playing tennis and racquetball, spending time with friends and his 7-year old daughter.

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston
Big Brothers Big Sisters, a donor supported volunteer-based organization, creates successful mentoring relationships for children between the ages of 6 and 15 with volunteer adult mentors resulting in better schools, brighter futures and stronger communities for all. Children in the program are less likely to skip school, begin using alcohol and illegal drugs, and be involved in violence. The organization is currently focusing on recruiting Big Brothers, especially African-Americans and Hispanics.

A fabulous organization, and hopefully his leadership will carry them into the future. It is a wonder how much good this organization does on such a wide scale for children who need them. I wish them all the best in their endeavors and they can count on my support each and every year.
